Should we have been in a slam?
This hand come up in a tournament. I was South and for the purpose of this question, we were playoing BMB advanced. Actual bidding was (E/W silent) 2C - 2D (relay) 2S - 4S All pass. I made 12 tricks only losing AC. We got 36 % as 3 pairs bid 6S and 3 more bid 6NT. It was a large filed and most pairs were in 4S. My 2S is showing 8 playing tricks in spades. I wasn't keen on partner's 4S bid and wonder whether he should, say, bid 3D but even if he does, then what?

You have shown a strong hand (20+ or equivalent) so partner with 11 hcp including 3 kings should be trying for slam. 2C - 2D - 2S - 3D - 3S - I think your rebid of spades should show pretty close to self-supporting spades, so your partner with control in every suit can bid Blackwood and settle for 6S or 6NT. I think 6NT looks better because it protects the two unsupported kings. It turns out that there is no weakness in either suit but 6NT might make and 6S might be down (swap South's CQ for the HQ for instance).
